Intro to Git and GitHub In-Person
This class is a basic introduction to Git and GitHub. Git is a version control system for tracking changes in computer files, and GitHub is an online collaboration tool that uses Git. In this class, we will review the command line, discuss version control, and do hands-on exercises to introduce both Git and GitHub.
Because Git uses the command line interface, a familiarity with the command line is helpful. Otherwise, the class is intended for beginners or for people who need to brush up on the basics.
Before class, please be sure to:
- Create a GitHub account
- Download GitBash
- Review the Command Line with this tutorial
