Systematic and scoping reviews are often mistaken for literature reviews, but they are structured research methods with their own requirements, standards, and timelines. This webinar explains why evidence synthesis methods such as systematic and scoping reviews typically take a year or longer to complete, what is involved in planning and conducting them successfully, and why it is essential to develop a protocol before launching a search strategy. 

The session will highlight common reasons journals reject systematic and scoping review submissions, including unclear research questions and criteria, methodological weaknesses, and inadequate reporting. The webinar will introduce the standards, frameworks, and documentation that underlie a rigorous review process, discuss how to target the appropriate databases and data sources, and examine how AI and automation tools may be used in some stages of the process.
